After 8 days in Florida it was SO nice to finally be reunited with my love. Florida was amazing and a much needed break from city life but I truly missed my other half something fierce. On Saturday we headed to Brooklyn and the weather was insanely beautiful. The kids ran around, we took in the beautiful views, and Lucas requested a ride on the Dumbo carrousel. Lillie passed out on the cab ride home and I rested my head on Ivan’s shoulder and listened to boys discuss Pokemon. As Lucas likes to say “sweet home, sweet home”.

Ivan’s backpack (formerly mine 😉 is from State Bags. We both alternate wearing it and it is the perfect everyday/diaper bag. You can shop it here. Added bonus, for every Luxe Lorimer purchased, a bag filled with essentials is sent to a child in need. #givebackpack

“The little things? The little moments? They aren’t little.” – John Kabat-Zinn

I love my tribe. I love that man. I love those babies. Sometimes I find myself fully immersed in a “pinch me” moment – my mind will wander and I just think to myself how damn lucky I am. We are still in the thick of a four day weekend home together and it’s been nothing short of lazy, family filled, and incredible.

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy..”

Summertime in NYC. It’s my absolute favorite (after Fall of course). The warm, muggy air, the buzz of children playing, music blaring from corner stores and late night get togethers on stoops. Another plus are the birthday parties. Lots of friends gathering in local parks, pizza take-out, and love. So much love. We kicked off the summer in Brooklyn to celebrate little Oak who turned two and the day was absolute perfection. We are so ready for more warm, beautiful days just like this.

Dungarees. Blue Jeans. The classic overall. Lucas has long outgrown the few pairs he used to wear and I recently walked into the GAP and spotted these. In the girl section of course. They were 50% off and Lucas had to have them. In my opinion they are a childhood (and now an adult – don’t judge) staple and I had forgotten how youthful and adorable they are on my boy. I was planning to save them for back to school but Brooklyn was calling our name and these seemed like the perfect fit for a day wandering around the flea markets.

A BEAUTIFUL EASTER

It’s Monday and I’m still smiling – thinking of our lovely Easter day spent with family. We had a very low key morning. Bacon, egg, and cheeses  with iced coffee for breakfast and cartoons. My mom came over and while Ivan and Lucas played we quickly hid eggs and treats around the apartment. Lucas was thrilled and I caught some amazing and hysterical video footage (I’ll be sharing egg photos tomorrow ;). After the hunt the boys took a nap, I tidied up, and got things ready for our adventure to Brooklyn. We had a late lunch/dinner of sancocho with family and finished off the evening with strawberry shortcake. Perfection.

I went to bed with a full heart, a happy soul, and thanking God for all our blessings. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

BROOKLYN PLAYDATES

The sweetest Brooklyn afternoon was spent with lots of friends, Lucas’s included. He adores this duo and I feel the same about their mama. There was lots of chasing, squealing, and collecting of all the acorns. Lucas was such a gentleman he made sure to help keep them safe in Sophia’s pockets ;). Such a charmer this one. We are looking forward to more awesome dates and adventures this month.

A BROOKLYN BIRTHDAY

Over the weekend we headed to a Brooklyn birthday party fit for a true New York kid. In my opinion summer time birthdays are pretty much the best. Rooftops and barbecues – you just can’t beat that. Our little love Henri turned three and specifically requested a strawberry cake. Oh, the cake. I’m still dreaming of having just one. more. slice. It was that good! The boys had the best time and well, the adults enjoyed some good convo, beer, and wine. Wins for all. And on another note, I can’t believe it’s already August. This summer has flown by. I’m hoping to squeeze in a few more rooftop sessions and playdates before the cold hits us once again. Happy last month of summer (eek!).

A BROOKLYN SURPRISE

I racked my brain for weeks on what to plan for my mans big 3 0. I think everyone should have a surprise party thrown in their honor at least once in their life and thirty is a major celebratory age so the wheels started turning. I decided on The Crown Victoria in Williamsburg and got to work on the invites. Just when I was starting to feel pretty good about myself and my sneaky ways, Ivan began trying to poke around for hints. Sorry to all the friends who received some pretty verbal text messages from me (eep!) but Ivan really left me no choice (I blame him, you guys!). Fast forward to Saturday and as Ivan and I walked to the Crown Vic the skies opened up and were all like “birthday? what birthday? oh you wanted to drink beer in the sunshine?..We arrived huddled under our umbrella and I couldn’t be happier to see all our beautiful friends smushed together under picnic umbrellas with balloons. Such good sports! Everyone yelled “surprise!!” and the party commenced. The look on Ivan’s face was priceless and so worth it. After 20 minutes of showers the sun came out and the fun really started. It was the perfect Saturday. The perfect day. And I know Ivan thought it was the perfect birthday. Thank you to all of our fabulous friends for coming and celebrating my handsome man.
I love you, I love you, I love you Ivan.

THE DANCING KING AND HIS DANCING PANTS

I love our weekend trips to Brooklyn. My sister in law is lucky enough to live a stones throw from Prospect Park which makes for fun, family picnics and easy access to a bathroom 😉 Lucas usually naps around 12pm and since we were on the train headed to the park during that time he decided to skip his usual snooze time (trains rides are just way too exciting!). As we approached the park he slowly started to turn into a MESS – skipping nap time will do that to you. So he slept for the first 2 hours and woke up with the dancing bug. FYI – yes, I’m a lucky mama. My kid can sleep through anything. Including a magic act and hip hop music blasting throughout the park. So fast forward 2 hours later and the kid was ready to party. I may be biased but Lucas is an incredible dancer. Seriously guys, the boy has moves! The moment my boy turns 3 (EEK!) he will be enrolled in dance. Dancing was such a big part of my life as a child and I think it’s such an incredible way to learn to express yourself. Plus music and dance is just in his blood. It’s pretty clear to see. So any who, dance class in a few months, amazing park trips to look forward to this summer, and the dopest dancing pants you ever did see.                                     tee c/o no sweet | pants from munster kids c/o carousel ny | sneakers from converse

BROOKLYN BABES

IMG_5369IMG_5368IMG_5361IMG_5466IMG_5467IMG_5498
Saturday was perfect. It was cold, but not too cold. The sun was shining. Brooklyn was calling our name! We headed down to Dumbo to see this babe and this babe (plus the little ones of course). Christine recently moved into a new apartment and it’s pretty – ok, REALLY – amazing. Definitely inspired me for hopefully soon upcoming move. We ran around Dumbo with pretty much the best trio there ever was. These kids are destined to be city bff’s. A ride on the carrousel and a pit stop for cupcakes and wine later, we headed back to the house to eat chinese and watch football with the hubby’s. The night ended with fresh and so clean tots and cocktails for the parentals. I heart these ladies and those sweet babes of theirs.                           tee c/o slyfox threads | windbreaker & sweats c/o nununubaby | mask from littlest crochet shop
