My dearest Lucas León,

The past four years have been the best of my life. You have brought our family infinite joy and happiness. You are a bright star that I know will go so very far in life. With your wit, compassion, joy, and smarts, well, the world isn’t going to know what hit it when you spread your wings. God knew just what he was doing when he picked you just for us. I can’t even properly articulate just how deep my love runs for you. I hope you always know just how loved you are and that your mommy and daddy will do anything and everything for you. Always. May God bless you with all the numbers, health, and so much happiness my sweet boy. I am honored to be your mother and to be able to witness your growth and success.

Te amo. Te amo. Te amo.

A few weeks ago my beautiful loves gathered in Brooklyn together to celebrate my daughter, Lillie Sol. Lucas’s baby shower was a huge affair and this time around I wanted something a bit more simple and intimate (and ladies only!). Besides getting stuck in traffic on the way there the afternoon was magic. I am just so thankful that I have a group of women in my life that care so deeply for my family and I. My little princess is quite the lucky little girl with so many tia’s that love her so much already!

This post was supposed to go up a few weeks ago but let’s just blame pregnant mama brain here..

A BAPTISM

Sunday August 10th was glorious. Lucas’s baptism. Before heading to Church, Ivan, Lucas and I (and the entire Ninja Turtle squad) took a stroll through Central Park. The weather was perfect. Everything was perfect. Including Lucas’s cream linen suit – a gift from his amazing Madrina (Godmother). The only mistake we made was passing a park full of kids. Lucas promptly proclaimed he wanted to go down the slide and well, linen and slides just don’t mix. After we were able to coax him  away (no easy feat FYI) we walked down Central Park West. I can’t explain the feeling of approaching the Church and seeing so many familiar, beautiful faces. Friends and family, all who love our little guy to pieces. They were all there to celebrate this special day and it was the best gift a mama could receive. To know you have a village who will always be there for your child. The ceremony only had one minor hiccup. Lucas insisted on playing with his Ninja Turtles and I might have broken out into a small sweat trying to get him to sit down. Turtles aside, Lucas was an absolute gem with the Priest and was extremely calm during the act of Baptism. After the ceremony we all headed back to our apartment for good food, wine, and a celebration cake with sparklers, of course. We love you Lucas León. May you have a beautiful journey learning about your faith and yourself. Mami and Papi will be by your side always and forever, helping to guide you in any way we can.

A BROOKLYN BIRTHDAY

Over the weekend we headed to a Brooklyn birthday party fit for a true New York kid. In my opinion summer time birthdays are pretty much the best. Rooftops and barbecues – you just can’t beat that. Our little love Henri turned three and specifically requested a strawberry cake. Oh, the cake. I’m still dreaming of having just one. more. slice. It was that good! The boys had the best time and well, the adults enjoyed some good convo, beer, and wine. Wins for all. And on another note, I can’t believe it’s already August. This summer has flown by. I’m hoping to squeeze in a few more rooftop sessions and playdates before the cold hits us once again. Happy last month of summer (eek!).

A BROOKLYN SURPRISE

I racked my brain for weeks on what to plan for my mans big 3 0. I think everyone should have a surprise party thrown in their honor at least once in their life and thirty is a major celebratory age so the wheels started turning. I decided on The Crown Victoria in Williamsburg and got to work on the invites. Just when I was starting to feel pretty good about myself and my sneaky ways, Ivan began trying to poke around for hints. Sorry to all the friends who received some pretty verbal text messages from me (eep!) but Ivan really left me no choice (I blame him, you guys!). Fast forward to Saturday and as Ivan and I walked to the Crown Vic the skies opened up and were all like “birthday? what birthday? oh you wanted to drink beer in the sunshine?..We arrived huddled under our umbrella and I couldn’t be happier to see all our beautiful friends smushed together under picnic umbrellas with balloons. Such good sports! Everyone yelled “surprise!!” and the party commenced. The look on Ivan’s face was priceless and so worth it. After 20 minutes of showers the sun came out and the fun really started. It was the perfect Saturday. The perfect day. And I know Ivan thought it was the perfect birthday. Thank you to all of our fabulous friends for coming and celebrating my handsome man.
I love you, I love you, I love you Ivan.

HAPPY HAPPY MY LOVE!

My sweetest love is 30 today. We have shared a million kisses, countless birthdays and anniversaries, wishes, dreams, hopes, the birth of the greatest gift on Earth..

Ivan, after 13 years you are still my dream boat. The man I want to spend every waking moment with. I love you. Happy 30th mi amor! Cheers to more babies, more living, more laughs and 100 more birthdays together. You are my magic.

NOCHE BUENA

IMG_8164-1024x1024
In my family we celebrate Noche Buena (Christmas Eve). We all get together to eat, drink, and open gifts. It truly is an evening filled with love. I love this tradition of ours and even with a very late bed time for the kiddo, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Christmas day is more laid back, a day for leftovers and pajamas. This year we took the train to my moms and spent a few hours relaxing and drinking mimosas while Lucas played and danced. There might have even been a 30 minute cat nap involved (for me..not the baby ;). I have everything I could ever ask for. My family, my boys, our health, and an abundance of love. I hope you all received everything you wished for and more! Merry belated Christmas!
