SPRING AND NEW FRIENDS

Last week we had a bit of a cold front. A major, unwanted departure from the sunny warm weekend that had just passed. It put me in a bit of a funk to say the least. I contemplated chucking all my winter jackets and wearing nothing but sandals and tanks out of spite. But then I’d wake up sick and bla bla bla. So there we were, bundling up in scarves and hats..yet again. The weather man must have felt the bad juju vibes I was sending him and we had a little break in the middle of the week. Lucas and I met new friends for coffee and a park date and it was just what we needed. We still needed a few layers but I can deal with a denim jacket. It’s the faux-fur lined coats that have me all in a tizzy. Either way, Spring we can feel you. We want you to stay. We kinda, really love you. Thanks in advance for the warm, sunny days, play dates with friends, and iced coffee breaks. Also, I think I’m looking pretty good with two kiddies. Ivan, I hope you’re reading this. I kid. I kid. Sort of. Thanks Mary for amping my baby fever to turbo. Cheers, Spring!

AN ODE TO OUR FAVORITE SEASON

Dear Fall,

Every morning as we wake, Lucas and I are greeted with your crisp chill sneaking through the cracked windows. The floors are starting to get chilly so Lucas puts on socks and I slip on my fuzzy slippers and we start our day with warm milk and coffee (the coffee is just for me of course ;). Then we get ready to head outside and embrace you. The 60 and below temps call for layers. Lots and lots of cozy layers. Of course we know later in the day you will no doubt warm up a bit and our light knits and sweaters are perfect for peeling off. Lucas and I walk hand in hand, heads up, and the aroma of burning wood fills our noses and souls. I am thankful for you Fall. My most favorite of all the seasons. You pretty much have this season thing down pact. Yep. You show off with your beautiful golden leaves scattered along the streets. You spoil us with apple cider and pumpkin spice everything. You provide the perfect temperatures for playing outside all day and the best nature adventures (acorns, colors, leaves..) Lucas and I love you and we’d love it if you’d stay awhile.

Wednesday the hubs played hooky and we spent the whole day exploring the gardens in Central Park. Lucas and I sat and watched the ducks, calling out “pato, pato!”I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. We always explore as a family on the weekends, but there was something extra special about an outing together mid-week. Our little secret. There were no crowds – just us. Well, so it seemed. I suppose you’re never truly alone in a city like New york. But you follow me here, right? Wednesday was a gem, oh yes it was.

FOOTBALL IN THE PARK

This is a recap of our seriously awesome day in the park last week. Better late than never, right? 😉 So back to the park. Central Park. Our beautiful backyard. Literally a hop, skip, and jump away from our little ol’ apartment. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have this lush haven to explore with Lucas. It has been our saving grace on many a cranky afternoon. I am a Central Park ninja at this point – I have scouted out and know all the perfect nearby spots to let Lucas run free and fill his pockets with dirt (under close supervision of course 😉

Last week was no exception. I rounded up the boys and off we went. One of my dearest friends was celebrating her grandmas birthday via a Central Park soiree and we were invited to join the festivities. There was lots and lots of kiddos, amazing food, music, and balloons. What more could we ask for?IMG_5085IMG_5119IMG_5104IMG_5122IMG_5126IMG_5131IMG_5114IMG_5139IMG_5230IMG_5285IMG_5286IMG_5296

We were having such a blast that we didn’t even realize we were still out having fun during Lucas’s bath time. We packed up the stroller and gunned it home, desperately trying to make it back before the little mister passed out. Well not only did he pass out, he was catching those z’s while sitting upright in daddy’s arms! We paid for this later when we HAD to wake him up for a quick rinse before bed (there was actual dirt in his diaper). At least it made for a funny photo op and video. Always a good time with my boys!
