MADRE

No matter where life takes me, one thing is for certain. I am a mother. Lucas’s mother. It is the most fulfilling, rewarding, crazy, hectic, heart warming job in the world. He is my greatest achievement and when someone asks me “what do you do” my first response is – I am a MOM. I kinda wish I could rock this tee everyday. It made me feel all “I am mama, hear me roar!”. I loved all the smiles I received while walking hand in hand with Lucas. Thank you Riley & Co for creating the perfect tee for this Madre                On Lucas: hat c/o sly fox Threads | sweater from uniglo | leggings c/o lot 801 | sneakers from walmart

BOOT WEATHER AND CAFÉ CON LECHE

Is it boot season already? I many have jumped the gun but who gives a hoot when your kid looks so stinking cute in them! I’ll take a pair in my size please 😉 The weather this September hasn’t disappointed. Sunny days with a slight chill and breezy evenings. No need for the AC at night makes me a very happy lady. I’ve even slowly started giving up my iced coffees and in their place I’ve been drinking a nice, warm mug of café con leche. YES.Boot weather also calls for coordinating cozy threads and No Sweet Kids is one of my very favorites. You can see more photos and learn more about this amazing company over on Babiekins

TRIPS TO TARGET AND BOYS WHO WEAR PINK

About once a month we like to mosey uptown to our closest Target. Not because we need anything in particular (good grief walking into that store is a TRAP!) but simply because we enjoy the walk. This trip in particular had purpose – a new Ninja Turtle for the boy. Because you can never have enough turtles. We stopped for a cherry icee and Lucas was nice enough to share with mama (although none was spared for daddy). When we finally made it to Target Lucas couldn’t decide which turtle he wanted. These are hard decisions people! After about half hour of serious deliberation he settled on a turtle lunch box and puzzle. Wins.
And it must be noted that little boys who wear pink are bosses. I am loving his new tank from Kid + Kind. You must take a moment to check out this absolutely darling shop.

Also, this. A campaign that is supporting and encouraging kids to wear any color they choose – regardless of their gender. Started by Martine Zoer founder of Quirkie Kids, she is using her shop (chock full of PINK!) and campaign to spread tolerance of individual expression amongst kids and their peers – adults included. #freetowearpink

LÉON WEARS

Casual afternoons call for bicycle shorts 😉 Lucas has been wearing this black pair (from the Children’s Place) for over a year and they are so comfy and worn in at this point that it’s kind of like reaching for one of my old favorite tee’s from college. They’re that good! His Bobo Choses top is from Line + Liv. It’s one of my go-to shops and they are currently having a crazy summer sale. Hip hip for summer savings!

THE PERFECT DATE

Over the weekend we dolled ourselves up and headed to my God sister’s baby shower. We had an amazing time celebrating and Lucas was extra well behaved. He ate what I served him, said please and thank you, and listened to mamas instructions. He was the perfect gentleman! It didn’t hurt that he looked extra adorable in his little twonager ensemble (there’s something about a white tee that gets me every time).
I love our dates and one on one time together (papi sat this one out). I say this every couple of months but this is such an awesome age! We have been having the best convos and laughs. He thinks I’m the funniest and I think he’s the greatest. We are pretty much the perfect team.

MAMA AND LEÓN WEAR AND A NOLA UPDATE

A quick iPhone photo shoot courtesy of papi before we went off to stuff our faces with pasta and salad 😉 Many of you asked via Instagram where you could find my shoes and they’re currently on sale here. They run true to size and are super comfy – perfect for chasing after the little man. My sweater is also on sale (wahoo!) but sadly I couldn’t find my pants online (these are similar). Lucas’s shirt is from Hugo Loves Tiki and has been a heavy rotation item in his wardrobe. It’s super light-weight and extra adorable. His moccs are from Freshly Picked and are limited edition butterscotch.

In other news, Ivan and I are headed to New Orleans. Our first solo vacation in 3 years. To say I’m excited would be a major understatement. Of course nothing is packed and I have a million errands to run before dropping señor Lucas off at grandma’s but who cares when adult beverages and alone time with my man are around the corner. NOLA we are coming for you!

AFTERNOON DATES AND CHILDREN OF THE TRIBE

Lately we have been spending our afternoons wandering around Central Park. The blooms are in full swing and we are loving every beautiful blossom. I’m hoping for a million more delightful afternoons with my boy this summer.

Oh, and those adorable shorts Lucas is sporing? I’m just a weeee bit obsessed with the brand Children of the Tribe. The collections inspiration is taken from Byron Bay, Australia where the clothing is produced. Think mountains, earth tones, water, and deserts. The fabric is impeccable and the prints are out of this world. Lucas is wearing the dead fish shorts and they are perfection. “We create quality, timeless, stylish clothing for free-spirited little people who love to roam in the sand dunes, day dream in tree tops, and run barefoot through long grass.” Don’t forget play in Central Park 😉 Obsessed! I’m currently drooling over these. Flamingos in NYC? Yes, Please! Shop the whole collection here.

THE DANCING KING AND HIS DANCING PANTS

I love our weekend trips to Brooklyn. My sister in law is lucky enough to live a stones throw from Prospect Park which makes for fun, family picnics and easy access to a bathroom 😉 Lucas usually naps around 12pm and since we were on the train headed to the park during that time he decided to skip his usual snooze time (trains rides are just way too exciting!). As we approached the park he slowly started to turn into a MESS – skipping nap time will do that to you. So he slept for the first 2 hours and woke up with the dancing bug. FYI – yes, I’m a lucky mama. My kid can sleep through anything. Including a magic act and hip hop music blasting throughout the park. So fast forward 2 hours later and the kid was ready to party. I may be biased but Lucas is an incredible dancer. Seriously guys, the boy has moves! The moment my boy turns 3 (EEK!) he will be enrolled in dance. Dancing was such a big part of my life as a child and I think it’s such an incredible way to learn to express yourself. Plus music and dance is just in his blood. It’s pretty clear to see. So any who, dance class in a few months, amazing park trips to look forward to this summer, and the dopest dancing pants you ever did see.                                     tee c/o no sweet | pants from munster kids c/o carousel ny | sneakers from converse

LEÓN WEARS

Are you kidding me with this t-shirt? It screams Lucas Leon! The stripes are mamas dream and the neon bow-tie and faux electric blue suspenders are Lucas’s jam. I (we) chose this perfect top from la-di-da kids, pretty much the ultimate kids online shop stocked with the most amazing brands for the littles. Lucas wore it out on a leisurely walk around the hood and a pit stop to the park. Snazziest kid on the block 😉                         shirt  from bang bang copenhagen c/o la-di-da | levi’s leggings c/o piccolini | sneakers from converse

ICE CREAM WEATHER

Sixty degree temps are meant for walks around the hood and ice cream cones from baskin robbins. Wouldn’t you agree? Lucas is such a ham these days. I mean, he has always had one heck of a personality but in the past few weeks he has become such a riot. He’s the star of our world is what he is! Look at those poses! That’s all him – no stage mom coaching necessary 😉 And that red house? He takes it EVERYWHERE. We can’t leave the house without. It’s filled with all his favorite toys and lately he has become obsessed with ninja turtles which he lovingly calls his “turssssss”. Close enough buddy. If you follow me on Instagram you will notice I have been using the hashtag #lucasandhisredhouse, because seriously this thing makes an appearance in almost every photo. And can we talk about the weather? Tank tops and leopard print camper hats for the win! This year Lucas was selected to become a Sly Fox Threads brand rep and we are loving every piece from their spring/summer collection. I’m so excited to share more looks in the next few weeks! xo
