Happy halloween from our sweet little cupcake and our awesome Spider Man! I’m not the craftiest of mamas but I think both kiddos were both perfectly content with their store bought costumes. Lucas was stoked to be Spider Man and Lillie was thrilled with all the “oohs and ahhsss” so wins all around.

We celebrated a little early with a weekend away in Cold Spring and it was perfect. We stayed with our dear friends who recently moved from the city and Lucas couldn’t have loved it more. We walked in the town costume parade and afterwards headed down to the most beautiful river to watch the sunset. Halloween done right if you ask me! Hope you all had a spooky, wonderful weekend!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN: A TURTLE AND HIS FRIDA

IMG_4202 IMG_4204

Halloween with these two..pretty much the best. My ninja turtle and baby Frida Kahlo. Last year our Halloween was a bust – we never made it out the house. Lucas had zero interest in heading out even though we tried our best to explain..CANDY! Nope. So this year was fantastic. For two hours we watched our boy knock on doors and shout out “trick to treattttt!”. Also these were the best shots we got. Perfectly imperfect. Halloween with our two beautiful kiddos. I’m already looking forward to next year and having a matching family getup. Yes!

Although Lillie didn’t wear her full getup on Halloween day (check out that unibrow) I had a blast dressing her up a few days prior. You can see more photos of our baby Frida over on Babiekins.

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween weekend with your kiddos! xx

Lucas understood the concept of halloween this year and chose his own costume (surprise surprise ;). In the weeks leading up to the big day he became fascinated with all the spooky decorations in our apartment building and would make me stop to check out the skeletons, ghosts, and witches. He absolutely loved it all! We practiced our very best “trick or treat” and I felt like we were all ready to head out on Friday. That is until we weren’t. We headed out to take a few photos and by the time we got back into the building – a whopping ten minutes later – he refused to go out and collect his candy. I mean. Say what?! And by refuse I mean he had an epic tantrum that resulted in him trying to rip his costume off. So you know what. I stripped him into his diaper, he ate some pop rocks, and the adults had some wine. We always have next year. Hope you all had a blast this holiday. Now bring on the Christmas carols and Santa!

IT’S A BIRD. IT’S A PLANE.

It’s toddler superman! Sheesh I love this kid and the joy he brings to my life. How cool is he? We had such a great time strolling the East side as superhero’s (I was super mom ;). It’s Sunday and Halloween is over but I just had to share these photos. In total, Lucas got to dress up in 3 costumes – Andy Warhol, Superman, and Jesse Pinkman. Ivan might or might not be planning next years get up already. Yoda anybody? Hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween week! Let the Thanksgiving and Holiday (yikes!) festivities begin.

EVERYONE WILL BE FAMOUS FOR 15 MINUTES

The hubs and I have grand plans for a family costume this Thursday for Halloween but I needed a costume for the weekend and for fun day time activities this week. I began frantically searching online for something cute and inexpensive and came across this brilliant idea from Oh Happy Day. I instantly fell in love and Ivan was on board so there ya have it. Andy Warhol was a go! We had almost everything we needed for the costume and it took about 10 minutes to put the whole thing together and run out the house in time for a Halloween garden party uptown. ANDY WAS A HIT! I can’t tell you how many times we got stopped and Lucas was in artist heaven with his paint brushes. I’m thrilled with how easy this costume was and Lucas looked stinking adorable. I plan to dress him up again as mini Andy during the day on Thursday. It’s just too good!
