MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME THAT BEAUTY COMES FROM WITHIN

sc00216f57

My mother is the most beautiful woman I know. Inside and out. I have vivid memories of watching her get ready as a child. Sitting on the toilet, my little legs crossed, watching in awe as she carefully applied rose colored rouge and and raspberry lipstick. She always finished with a light dusting of face powder. Before we would leave the house she would spritz on her perfume and I loved how the scent would float around the house behind her as she collected her purse and put on her shoes.

My mother taught me that beauty comes from within but that pampering yourself and a sense of self love is so very important as well. I take pride in putting myself together not just as a mom but as a woman who is ready to tackle anything the day brings. Whether that be a splash of perfume, a luxurious hair mask (Honey Treasures by Garnier® Whole Blends™ is my fave!), a fab outfit, or the perfect accessory – I always feel better when I look my best.

On this upcoming Mother’s Day (and all the beautiful ones to follow), I am spending the day with all the strong, confident women in my life. My mama, my mother-in-law, and my sister. There will be talk of kids, life, motherhood, laughter. I truly can’t think of a better way to celebrate being a mama. And we will all be in our Sunday best. Beautiful inside and out.

Here are some favorite flashback images of my beautiful mama!

  1. Actually, I am headed to NYC for a solo, baby-free trip this Mother’s Day! I didn’t realize it when I booked, and I will miss them so much on Sunday, but it’s healthy for this momma to feel free and get her spirit and energy back and NYC is the perfect place to fill up that cup!

  2. This Mothers Day will be my first celebrating as a mama, and I am so excited and blessed to be able to do it. I will be celebrating with my mom, and my sister who has unfortunately lost two babies of her own. I will be buying her flowers because although her babies are in heaven, she’s a mama nonetheless and I want her to know that. So I’m looking forward to it!
P.S Lillie Sol is your twin, she looks just like you as a baby!

  3. This year, I’ll be spending Mother’s Day with my mother and her mother. Just a few weeks ago, we traveled to Delaware after the unexpected death of my grandfather and spent a lot of time with our family. That weekend, we learned that my mother’s sister, who lives just 5 minutes from my grandmother, would be out of town for Mother’s Day weekend to celebrate her son’s college graduation in Alabama. Immediately, we knew we would definitely be making a trip back to Delaware to visit & spend time with my grandmother. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend that will include some shopping, gardening, and lots of yummy food.

*also, can we talk about baby you & Lillie Sol being TWINS?! Amazing.

  4. I’m sending my mama in California a bouquet and face mask. She’s been feeling a little under the weather so I’m hoping they’ll help cheer her up!

  5. My beautiful mama is pampering herself this Mother’s Day by vacationing in the Dominican, and I’m so happy she’s taking the time from her busy life to slow down and relax somewhere beautiful. As such, we celebrated her this past weekend by spending the afternoon sitting on the deck with homemade tapas and wine, enjoying the sunshine with my babies on my lap.
This Sunday I will go to my favorite plant sale downtown and buy myself some beauties before packing up the children and going out to the country to spend the afternoon with the husband’s mama to enjoy a meal. Lots of love everywhere!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to be with my mom this Mother’s Day as I am 700 miles away but I sent her flowers to be delivered & a card -but I know my brothers (who live in her town) spent the day with her so I’m happy about that

We always go to Church on Mother’s Day, where the wonderful men prepare a delicious brunch for us to enjoy before the service. This year, we celebrated Mother’s Day at my oldest daughter’s house. My son-in-law served a great meal and all of my family (four adult kids and three grandchildren) were there.
    Your photos are beautiful!
