Lucas: You are proving to be the best big brother. You love to run and grab me diapers (you have no idea what a big help this is!) and you are always kissing, loving, and poking (!!) your little sister. Today you said “look at how pretty baby Lillie is!”.
Lillie: 4 weeks already! You are so alert and make the most awesome faces (when you’re awake.. ;). We just love you so much our little Sol.
I was going through all the photos from this shoot, choosing a few to print, and I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed and just so thankful that I have these images to look back on. The shots of Lucas and I are some of my absolute favorite. Thank you again to my ladies at Hey Mama, HATCH, and my beauty and friend Mary!

Lucas: You start pre-k in less than 3 weeks and I’m truly in denial over what a big boy you are. This week we are going to buy your back to school supplies (I tradition I always loved) and get ready for the big day by soaking in these last few weeks of summer!
Lillie: You have passed your birth weight and I couldn’t be more proud! I’m also pretty darn impressed at my body and the ability to nourish you. We spend a good chunk of our days snuggled up together and nursing and I think you love it as much as I do.
Lillie Sol is 2 weeks young and she is already a true New Yorker. We have been to Central Park a handful of times already and I can attest to how much the fresh air and family time has done us all some good. Lillie and I sit in the shade and nurse/cuddle/nurse while Ivan and Lucas rough house. These family afternoons in the park have been such a gift and I’m not so secretly a bit sad about next week when Ivan goes back to work. In the mean time I’ll be soaking in these moments, my people, and of course our big ol’ backyard – hey Central Park! Looking good girl!
Lily Jade is an amazing diaper bag company and they were kind enough to send me their Elizabeth Bag which I am officially obsessed with. I love that it converts into a back pack and allows me to be hands free while wearing Lillie. There are also a ton of pockets perfect for organizing all those tiny baby bits and bobs and honestly it’s just plain beautiful.
Making sure our little Lillie was safe and comfortable in her nursery nook was our top priority when putting together her space. We had saved Lucas’s crib but we were in need of a new mattress. After doing a ton of research I found that hands down the Nook Pebble mattress was exactly what we were looking for. Here is what I love about this incredible sleep system:
+ layers that allow for oxygen flow and ventilation inside the mattress.
+ the design and structure of the mattress creates the perfect temperature and studies have been shown that this also allows baby to sleep more comfortably (and longer!).
+ the non-toxic foam core. some of the materials used are organic cotton and eucalyptus.
+ 2 side design (you can flip the mattress over for more plush, toddler friendly usage).
There are so many things we worry about as mamas – especially when we bring our little ones home from the hospital. Having one less thing to stress over, especially when it comes to something as important as our babies safety, is so important. I can’t promise you won’t still get up in the middle of the night to check on your little one (guilty!) but if having an amazing mattress from a company you trust helps our new mama worries, then I say that it’s invaluable!

Lucas: You have been proving to be the absolute best/funniest big brother. The other day you poked Lillie gently and declared you were “listening to her brain”.
Lillie: We are in newborn heaven with you. My little dream baby – you nurse, sleep, poop, and stare at us with wide eyed doe eyes. It can’t get any better.
Our first week at home with Lillie Sol. Lucas is terrified of her belly button (which is finally almost healed..woohoo!), she loves mamas milk and is well on her way to being back to her birth weight, snoozes on our chests are frequent, she gave us her first smile at 6 days old, and we are all delirious in love. Life is pretty darn sweet.
Dungarees. Blue Jeans. The classic overall. Lucas has long outgrown the few pairs he used to wear and I recently walked into the GAP and spotted these. In the girl section of course. They were 50% off and Lucas had to have them. In my opinion they are a childhood (and now an adult – don’t judge) staple and I had forgotten how youthful and adorable they are on my boy. I was planning to save them for back to school but Brooklyn was calling our name and these seemed like the perfect fit for a day wandering around the flea markets.

MY KIDS! These shots were taken at 10pm on the first night we were all home together as a family. Life is pretty darn good and I’m feeling so very blessed.
Our niña, Lillie Sol, made her debut Earth side on August 1st at exactly 4pm weighing in at 6 pounds 12 ounces. One week early. Her cry is slightly raspy and soft, she nurses like a champ, her features are small and delicate (my petite little mama), and she’s already smiling. Her papi and big brother are smitten and I’m head over heels for my princess. Lillie Sol you are our dream come true.
