“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2018.”
Lillie: You love love love to sing songs. You sometimes ask me to sing to/with you and then rudely interrupt saying “stop singinggggg mama!”. I can take the hint ;).
Lucas: Last week you slept over your Tia’s house with Lillie. You packed your backpack and inside was the following: your teddy bear, slippers, and an alarm clock. All the essentials.

Lucas: We played Guess Who the other night and you still can’t quite catch on to the rules of the game. The more (pretend) frustrated I get with you, the harder we laugh. There’s nobody else in the world I rather laugh with till our bellies ache.
Lillie: I helped you ride Lucas’s scooter for the first time in our hallway and I hope I never forget the sound of you squealing and yelling “yay!!” Pure joy.

I participated in The 52 Project in 2014 and 2015. I enjoyed it so much and really can’t say why I decided not to continue. But here we are. A new year! A fresh start! I feel like a lost a little bit of my inspiration creativity wise and with all the changes in social media, finding my groove, and not knowing exactly where I wanted to take my blog. I am feeling refreshed and ready in a way to get back to basics. I have a few new features I plan to implement and I just want to write and continue to document. I’m looking forward to a creative and wonderful 2018!
Lucas: You’re at the half way mark in first grade and I am just SO proud of you. You received a smart watch from The Three Kings and you won’t take it off. It’s not set up with internet (although you think it is 😉 and you realllyyyyyy want to start a youtube channel. Yesterday you told me that we need to start making practice videos!
Lillie: I am loving our time together. You have become my little partner in crime. I have to stop myself from thinking about the fact that in 2 years you will be in pre-k. Cue all the tears! This week you have a new favorite song – rock a bye baby – and you crawl into my arms like a baby and want me to sing and rock you. I love you so much baby girl.

I can’t believe we are at week 52. I’m so thankful for this project – how amazing will it be to look back on these weekly portraits and see the tiny changes in my babies that can sometimes go overlooked on a day to day. I’m planning to continue in 2016 although I’m trying to decide if I will do a weekly family portrait as opposed to individual photos. I guess I have a few days to decide 😉
Cheers to a year of growth, our baby girl, tales of pre-k, and celebrating life with my other half. 2016 – we are ready for you!

Lucas: Four so far is SO good! Christmas this year is proving to be the best yet – you are so ready for Santa to come and have been asking questions about the elves and his reindeer. The best question so far has been: “how is Santa going to get in? we don’t have a chimney.”
Lillie: That smile..when you wake up from your naps you greet me with a happy, toothless grin that melts me every time.
“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”
Lucas: Somebody please tell me how 2015 is almost over? Last week you had an epic meltdown where you told me that I broke your heart (I discussed the fact that you love using this line nowadays in last weeks portrait post..). I let you know that it was in fact NOT broken. You then turned around, looked me straight in the eye, and told me “IT’S ALREADY BROKEN”. Just stop it right now kid.
Lillie: We had a well visit 2 weeks ago and we are already discussing the introduction to solids. How did we get here this fast?! Slow down baby girl!

Lucas: You are my strong-willed, emotional, sensitive boy. Your new favorite thing to tell Daddy and I when you are upset is “you’re breaking my heart”. You say this with a scrunched up, pouty face and it’s all we can do to not smile and/or laugh (this usually happens when you’re in trouble..).
Lillie: I gave you a tiny taste of peppermint (from my fingers) this week and the look on your face was priceless! You began licking your lips looking for more. I am so excited to introduce you to solids in a month or two. Homemade apple sauce, here we come!

Lucas: Your winter recital is in December – your very first school performance! You want me to invite the whole family..”Nana! Titi Meme! Abuela!” To say I’m excited to see your show is an understatement. Proud mama with a camera coming through!
Lillie: Four months on Tuesday – time is flying and I’m trying my hardest to live in the moment, be present, and not rush any milestones. PS – I kiss those plump cheeks about a million times a day. Maybe more.

Lucas: I’ve been making it a point of talking to you and letting you know all the positive and wonderful things we love about you. Sometimes we have hard moments and I never want that to define our days. Tonight I told you that I loved how funny you are and how gentle and caring you are with your sister. You blushed and told “your crazy mom”. I’ll take it.
Lillie: You become more squishy and scrumptious with each passing day. I simply can not believe you will be four months in a week.
“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”
Lucas: FOUR in just a few days. I can’t believe it. Last night I went to your room and carried you back into bed to sleep in between mommy and daddy. Forever my baby you’ll be.
Lillie: My sweet girl! You are growing so fast and plumping up at a rapid pace. Your personality is shining and those giggles of yours are the BEST.
